The annual Altrusa tea was started four years ago with the idea in mind to raise money for our Altrusan of the Year Scholarship Fund for high school students in our area. It has been well-received by the community and has been growing each year. Afternoon tea is served to a room filled with beautiful tabletops and music, not to mention wonderful afternoon tea attire and hats. The food is always delicious along with the three different gourmet teas we serve. A raffle for fantastic prizes is held toward the end of the tea. Our Altrusa ladies all pitch in to make this event the success that it has become.
In 2007, there were 75 people in attendance and we had the younger branch of the Girl Scouts help us out with serving, along with three girls from the Avid Program at the local high school. Lovely afternoon tea music was provided by the Minaret Trio.
