  1. Plan activities to attract potential members.










  2. Disseminate information about Altrusa’s mission, goals, activities, etc. to the community
  • Annual appreciation party for  outside supporters and/or contributors (in conjunction with Altrusa Awareness Day); $100.
  • Annual event with emphasis on recruiting members of Altrusa; no cost.
  • Altrusa booth featuring our clubs activities (one time per year; with Visibility Goal; no cost).


  • Business Cards with member name and number, and on back a coupon for free lunch for prospective member (ongoing); nominal cost.
  • Create a clear picture of Altrusa’s goals & expectations for membership.
  • Brochures to Chambers of Commerce and other areas that need to be identified, including our website (ongoing/as needed); In conjunction with Visibility Goal; no cost.
  • Post calendar of events on website and include in Chambers of Commerce calendar; no cost.
  • Distribute Altrusa public service announcements and articles in local newspapers and radio stations (ongoing); no cost.

Achieve good meeting attendance by members (Goal: 60% of members at lunch meetings and 70% of members at evening meetings).

 

  1. Highlight members with special programs.
  2. Stay in touch with members.




  • A member presents 5 minutes of autobiography at each program meeting.
  • Invite interesting/successful women to speak at meetings (ongoing); price of meal.


  • Call or e-mail all members to remind them of meetings (two times each month); no cost.



  • Committee chairpersons solicit attendance from their committee members (as needed); no co
  • Committees meet prior to or after club meetings (ongoing/as needed); no cost.

Keep members interested and engaged.

  • Keep all members involved in club activities; use questionnaire to get feedback about what is working and what is not (ongoing); minimal cost.


  • Address individual needs and act on them at the Board level. Back off if members are not enthused, and value members for what each contributes. Keep motivation going – celebrate successes ; no cost.


  • Assign each new member a secret sister at initiation
  • Conduct new member orientation within two months of initiation
