MAKE A DIFFFERENCE DAY

Each year in October, our club celebrates "Make A Difference Day" by focusing on a literacy project needed in our area. In 2006, over 100 Children's Books were donated and purchased by Altrusa as well as a bookcase, which was purchased and assembled by club members. Additionally, a member donated a child-size table and chairs. These items were delivered to the Wild Iris Center, to be used by children who come to visit with their parents in crisis situations, many of which involve domestic violence or sexual assault. Each child is encouraged to take a book for themselves. Altrusa will re-supply books as needed in the future. Up to 50 children a year may visit this center.
